High season: December to April

This is peak season. The weather is dry, warm, and sunny. Hotel prices are at their highest, especially around Christmas, New Year, and Easter. Book flights and hotels 3-6 months in advance. Activities are busy but all running at full capacity.

Shoulder season: May to June, November

Great value period. The weather is still warm and mostly dry, but prices drop 20-40%. Fewer tourists mean less crowded beaches and easier bookings. Brief rain showers are possible but rarely ruin a day.

Low season: July to October

The cheapest time to visit. Temperatures are at their highest (31C), afternoon rain is more common, and there is a small hurricane risk in September and October. Many travelers visit during this period and have great trips. Just buy travel insurance.

Punta Cana gets brief afternoon showers most months, but they rarely last more than 30 minutes. The wettest months are May, August, and October. Even during rainy season, most days have plenty of sunshine.

Hurricane season runs June to November, with the highest risk in September and October. Punta Cana is less affected than other Caribbean destinations due to its eastern position. Major hurricanes are rare, but travel insurance is recommended during these months.
