Who actually offers swim-with-dolphins in Punta Cana
Two independent operators run real, in-water dolphin programs near Punta Cana. Neither is a resort amenity and neither is something you can add to an all-inclusive package at the front desk. Both require booking a separate ticket direct with the operator.

What a swim-with-dolphins program actually includes
Programs are sold in tiers. A basic tier gets you roughly 30 to 40 minutes of water time in a group of up to 20 people, including a belly ride and handshake with the dolphin. Mid-tier programs (often called Explorer or Encounter) run 45 to 60 minutes and add a foot-push or dorsal tow. Top-tier programs, sometimes called Royal Swim or Excellence, are smaller groups with more one-on-one time. Photos and video are almost always sold separately and can add $100 to $220 to the total, so factor that into your budget if you want to bring home proof.
Why Ocean World is not the answer
Ocean World Adventure Park does have a real dolphin program, but it is in Cofresi, near Puerto Plata on the north coast of the Dominican Republic. That is roughly 250 miles and 5 to 6 hours by road from the Punta Cana resort zone, so it is not something you can add to a Punta Cana itinerary as a half-day trip. If a search result sends you to Ocean World while you are staying in Bavaro or Cap Cana, it is describing a different region entirely.
A note on the ethics
Captive dolphin encounters are a genuinely debated topic. Marine welfare organizations have raised concerns about enclosure size relative to a dolphin natural range, and welfare standards vary between operators in the Caribbean. Some travel platforms exclude certain dolphin attractions from their own booking systems for this reason. We are not going to tell you what to decide, but if you would rather skip the captive encounter altogether, seeing dolphins from a boat in open water is a straightforward alternative.
If you would rather just see dolphins, not swim with them
Several catamaran and party boat tours around Bavaro pass through areas where dolphins are regularly spotted, usually as part of a wider snorkeling or sightseeing cruise. This is not a guaranteed sighting, dolphins are wild animals and move around, but it is a way to experience them without a pool encounter.
